ImagineSolar is first in the nation to pilot NABCEP’s Alternative Experience Pathway for electricians. This is a proctored hands-on exam that, if completed successfully, will satisfy two installation experiences for the electrician’s application to sit for the NABCEP Certified PV Installer Exam.
The exam consists of design verification and installation of two grid-tied solar PV systems, complete with safety planning, site assessment, project planning, inspection and commissioning. Each installation takes from 2 to 3 days to complete.
Up to four journeymen or master electricians work as a team, and each member of the team gets installation credit. This is a fast track for electricians where they can get credit together rather than just one person per installation for non-electricians.
PV330 also provides excellent experience for non-electricians, but non-electricians would not get installation credit for the purpose of the NABCEP certification exam application.
In September 2010, IREC praised ImagineSolar for this cutting-edge PV330 Project Field Experience. Our ImagineSolar alumni have a significantly higher pass rate on the NABCEP Certified PV Installer Exam than others who sat for the exam in Texas.
